The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications are now open and will close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a house using a combined gross house income that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined household income does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the proper Identification Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or intend to research in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should my nsfas apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
